Oceanwest RYA Sailing School

About Oceanwest RYA Sailing School

Oceanwest RYA Sailing School is an **RYA sailing school based in the Geographe Bay region of South West Western Australia**, sailing from Port Geographe Marina in Busselton. It offers internationally recognised RYA training from complete beginner through to Yachtmaster, alongside ICC assessments, own-boat training, skippered yacht charters and corporate sailing days.

The school describes its priority plainly as getting people out on the water, and the range of what it offers reflects that: the same boat and instructors serve a formal qualification, a private charter or a corporate day.

## Sailing courses and training

Oceanwest teaches the RYA cruising pathway and conducts ICC assessments — the International Certificate of Competence being the document most overseas charter companies ask to see before handing over a yacht.

Training and services include:

- RYA sail training from beginner to Yachtmaster level - ICC assessments - Own-boat training and personalised training packages - Skippered yacht charters around Geographe Bay - Corporate entertainment and team-building sailing - Yacht share

## Own-boat training

Own-boat training is delivered aboard the student's own vessel rather than a school boat. For a new owner in the South West that is often the more useful choice: the handling, systems and quirks learned are the ones that will matter, and the training happens in the water the boat will actually be sailed in.

## Where it sails

Oceanwest is based at Port Geographe Marina on Spinnaker Boulevard in Busselton, with Geographe Bay and the South West Western Australian coastline as its sailing area.
