About Williamstown Sailing Club

## Introduction - Williamstown Sailing Club is an established community sailing club based on the foreshore at Stevedore Street/The Strand in Williamstown, Victoria. The club describes itself as an affordable and friendly place for families and individuals to participate in recreational sailing, racing and related water activities, and its clubhouse upper deck provides extensive views across Hobsons Bay to the Melbourne skyline.

## Club focus and membership - The club is primarily an off‑the‑beach dinghy club that also accommodates trailer‑sailers and moored craft. It fields organised Saturday racing through the main sailing season, runs a winter series, and welcomes visiting sailors and class events. Membership includes recreational sailors, competitive racers and fishing members who use the site's ramp and facilities.

## Facilities and on‑shore services - Shoreside facilities include twin concrete launch ramps, twin jetties, a rigging deck for off‑the‑beach boats, limited small‑boat storage, swing moorings, slip facilities for maintenance, three rescue boats used on race days, a canteen and an upper‑deck social/function area with bar facilities. The clubhouse and function room are available for member events and private hire.

## Social life and calendar - The club maintains an active social calendar with regular post‑race barbecues, Friday evening activities, seasonal events and regattas. Organised sailing and training are concentrated in the October–May season, with specific beginner and junior sessions on Saturday mornings and additional Friday evening race opportunities for novices.
