About Adelaide Sailing Club
## Introduction - Adelaide Sailing Club (ASC) sits on Kaurna land at West Beach facing Gulf St Vincent. The club describes itself as "an off‑the‑beach club with keelboat facilities," offering protected beach launching, lawned rigging areas and deep‑water harbour access for larger boats. Facilities include sailors’ canteen, change rooms and showers, wash‑down areas, multiple storage yards and a function/restaurant operation run by venue partners.
## Programmes and activities - ASC is an accredited Discover Sailing centre (Australian Sailing) that runs Tackers 1–3 and Start Sailing courses, adult learn‑to‑sail programs, school courses and school teams racing. The club operates a Junior and Youth Training Program and hosts regular club racing and an annual regatta calendar that includes state and national championships. ASC demonstrated capacity for international event management when it delivered the 2024 ILCA World Championship.
## Accessibility and Sailability - The club maintains a Sailability offering with Hansa‑class yachts and reports infrastructure to launch and retrieve accessible boats from its sheltered harbour and dock. The Sailability sessions are part of the club’s ongoing community and inclusion work.
## Club character and hospitality - Membership is substantial (site information records averages above 250 members with around 150 sailing members). Hospitality and functions are provided through a professional restaurant operator on site, allowing the club to concentrate on sailing, race management and volunteer operations.
